General Discussion
- The SMARTFIRE Viewer is an interactive web mapping and analysis tool that consists of:
- fire locations from the SMARTFIRE database,
- a base map with terrain, and
- a tool for modeling smoke trajectories from any location in the conterminous U.S. interactively.
- Fire location data are updated daily and trajectory information is updated every six hours.
How to use
- From the WFDSS Air Quality Tools Portal, the user is zoomed-in to the location of their fire. Forward trajectories at three starting heights (500, 1000, and 3000 m) originating from the fire location are pregenerated.
- The trajectories show the path that smoke is expected to travel depending on the plume height. Each labeled point along the line represent an hour.
- Areas in the path of the trajectory may be impacted by smoke.
Navigating the product
- A one page help sheet highlighting how to run trajectories in the SMARTFIRE Viewer is available here.
